How Lotto Max works
Each $6 play buys four selections of seven numbers from 1 to 52. You pick the first selection (or Quick Pick); the terminal generates the other three.
Match all seven numbers on any one selection to win or share the jackpot. A separate bonus number, also drawn from 1 to 52, pays the bonus tiers (6/7 + bonus and below). The smallest prize is 3/7, a free play of four Quick Pick selections.
In Alberta you can play at any lottery retailer or online through PlayAlberta. Draws close at 8:30 pm MT on draw nights.
Jackpots start at $10 million and can grow to $90 million. When the jackpot passes $50 million, extra MAXMILLIONS draws of $1 million are added; both keep growing until the jackpot reaches $90 million. Every draw also includes MAXPLUS prizes of $100,000 (one for each million dollars in the jackpot), won only by matching all seven numbers.
The honest math: jackpot odds are 1 in 33,446,140 per $6 play. Playing more does not make a win "due" — every draw is independent. Treat a ticket as entertainment spending, never as a plan.
Draw schedule
Lotto Max draws happen tuesdays and fridays. Sales cut off at 8:30 pm MT on draw days; tickets bought after the cutoff go to the following draw. Matrix: 7 numbers from 1–52, plus a bonus from 1–52.
Claiming a prize
- Prizes under $10,000 can be claimed at any WCLC lottery retailer in Alberta.
- Prizes of $10,000 or more are claimed through WCLC directly (1-800-665-3313); larger wins involve an in-person process.
- Tickets expire one year from the draw date. Sign the back of a winning ticket immediately.
